This conference is one of the most highly acclaimed meetings in the field of human spaceflight and related research. Having a long tradition of almost 40 years, it takes place biannually in different countries all over the world. Most recently, the symposium was held in Houston, Texas (2011) and Cologne, Germany (2013).

The 20th Humans in Space Symposium will again create a forum for discussion about fundamental and timely issues and trends as well as for developing collaborations through the exchange of research results and ideas.

During a week, the symposium will offer a unique opportunity for scientists, researchers, graduate students and instrument developers from all over the world to present and assess the latest developments as well as future outlook in exploring effects of spaceflight environment on the human body and how life supporting measures may vary depending on the mission profile.

The programme committee is gearing up for an exciting and informative symposium program including plenary lectures and sessions on a variety of topics, and various social events.
Everyone from around the world is welcome to come and actively participate in this gathering, get updated and enjoy the favourable climate and social activities that will flavour the event.

Diplomat Hotel Prague

The large conference and event centre consists of 22 meeting rooms for up to 1,050 people with a total of 1,600 m² of conference space as well as a 2,000 m² exhibition area.
The variable conference rooms with spacious foyer have a capacity for up to 400 people. Perfect working conditions are guaranteed thanks to climate control and state-of-the-art audiovisual and multimedia technologies, Wi-Fi, electronic screen navigation and simultaneous interpretation facilities.

Location

The 4-star Diplomat Hotel is easily and comfortably reached by car as well as by public transport.
Within walking distance of Prague Castle and the historic city centre, the hotel is the perfect location for business guests as well as individual tourists. Wenceslas Square is just a few minutes away by metro. This is the perfect place to begin a tour of the city taking you through the Old Town Square, over Charles Bridge and back up to Prague Castle.
You can leave your car in the underground car park or at the hotel lot – a metro station is located right in front of the hotel. Václav Havel Airport Prague can be reached quickly and easily via a direct bus connection.


How to Get to the Symposium Venue

From the Airport

The distance from the Vaclav Havel International Airport is approx. 8 km. A taxi ride from the airport to the congress centre will take approximatelly 20-30 minutes.It is possible to pay in cash or via credit card. The approximate cost in CZK is 500,-. (approx. 20 EUR).You can also travel by public transport. You can either take bus No. 119 to the underground station „Dejvicka „ (line A). You will need to buy a ticket for 40,- CZK (approx. 1,5 EUR) for this journey and pay directly to the driver.Only Czech Crowns are accepted. You can change your currency directly at the airport. Hotel is located right in front of the metro station. This bus operates till 23:20 every day. You can change your currency directly at the airport.
From the Main Railway Station

There is metro station „Hlavní nádraží“ (line C) directly at the Prague main railway station. Carry on just 1 station to the „Museum“ station (line C)  where you change the line C for line A (downstairs)  and go to the „Dejvicka“ station (direction Dejvicka). Hotel is located right in front of the metro station.You will need to buy a ticket for 32,- CZK.
Tickets for metro, trams, buses can be bought at the Tobacco shops nearby the subway stations or directly at the tickets machines located at the underground stations.
Access to Prague by car

Prague is located some 150 km east of the border with Germany (1,5 hours), via Pilsen and highway D5 and some  200 km west from the city of Brno (access from Austria -2 hours) via highway D1.

How to Register

To register, it is necessary to fill in the on-line Registration Form.

On-line registration will be open in February 2015. Registration fees can be paid in advance to the below bank account.

Please, simply fill in the Personal Data Form and a password will be sent to you by e-mail. Your password could be used for your payment, accommodation reservation and for booking other services.
Upon receipt of the Registration Form and the payment, a Letter of Confirmation will be sent to the participants within three working days. Please, present the Letter of Confirmation at the Registration desk at the Symposium venue to pick up your materials.
If you take advantage of the early pre-registration rate, payment must be received by the April 30, 2015 deadline. If payment is not received by this deadline, the subsequent rate will automatically apply.
Registration forms received after June 26, 2015 will not be accepted as pre-registration. Please do not send any registration forms or payments after that date. You will have the possibility to register in the Symposium venue. The on-site registration will be available from June 29, 2015.
Visa Requirements, Invitation Letters

Letters of invitation to assist with Visa applications can be provided by the Symposium Secretariat.
Invitation letters for visa purposes can only be sent to participants who have completed the registration process. Further information regarding visa requirements can be found here.
Visa applications are not the responsibility of the Symposium. Please ensure that you submit your application to the appropriate Embassy in good time.  Letters of invitation WILL NOT be issued after 15 May 2015.

Cancellations and Refunds

The Symposium Secretariat must be notified by e-mail ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or fax (+420 284 001 448) about the cancellation of the registration. Telephone cancellation will not be accepted. The appropriate refunds will be made after the Symposium.

Refunds will be made in July 2014.
Methods of payment

Registration fees must be paid in EUR by one of the following methods:
Credit Card

For payments through the Online Payment System only MasterCard/Eurocard, Visa and Diners Club credit cards are accepted. These payments will be charged in EUR. Access to the Online Payment System is from the on-line Registration Form.
For payments using American Express credit cards please complete the Credit Card Payment Authorization Form and kindly send it signed by a card holder to the Symposium Secretariat by fax (+420 284 001 448), not via e-mail for security reasons. The payment will be charged in Czech crowns (CZK) at the exchange rate of the Czech National Bank valid on the date of payment.
Credit Card Payment Authorization Form can be also used for MasterCard/Eurocard, Visa (will be charged in EUR) and Diners Club (will be charged in CZK).
Bank Transfer

Please note that payments by bank transfer will only be accepted by June 20, 2015. After this date only payments by credit cards will be accepted (either by using the Online Payment System or by submitting the Credit Card Payment Authorization Form) as mentioned above.
